We Are The World ハイチ版。

　先日、勤務先の入所さんが読んでいる「サンデー毎日」を読ませて貰っていると気になる記事があった。

　ハイチ大地震の被災者支援を目的とし、1985年のWe Are The World 発売から今年で25周年を迎えた同曲のリメイク版のレコーディングが2月1日にLAのジム・ヘンソン・スタジオにて行われたそうな。

一部、バンクーバーオリンピックの開会式でも流れたそうだけど、見てないし。

思い出してYoutubeで探してみるとオフィシャル映像があった。オリジナルと比べると、時代が違うので映像のクオリティは上だが、やっぱりオリジナルには勝てんかな。

“豪華アーティスト”が70人規模で参加したようだけども、ほとんど知らない。セリーヌ・ディオンくらいか・・・。

We are the World。

先日記事にしましたけども、注文していたＤＶＤの一つ、
「We Are The World ザ・ストーリー・ビハインド・ザ・ソング 20th アニヴァーサリー（２枚組）」を観ました。

この曲が出来たのは25年前。20年前ではなくて25年前。この度、『 THIS IS IT 』の発売に合わせて、日本版が発売され、一緒に予約してました。映像はＳ−ＶＨＳ並ですけど。

この曲を聴いたのは当時で10歳くらい。小学校４年生か５年生でしょうか。当時はマイケル・ジャクソンしか分からなかったですが、今回のＤＶＤを観て、ポール・サイモンも歌っていた事を初めて知りました。ソロの３人目です。
アート・ガーファンクルが入っていないのは、２人の中がまだ悪かったからだろうか…。

このＤＶＤは、「We are the World」のメイキングストーリーなのですが、鳥肌立ちました。当時は歌手たちがパフォーマンスで飢餓救済を訴えてると子供ながらに冷やかに見ていましたが、大きな間違いでした。

今更ながらお詫びいたします。本当に申し訳ありませんでした。

と謝りたくなるほど感銘を受けました。素晴らしい。









レコーディングの日取りは、とある授賞式に合わせて設定したそうですが、錚々（そうそう）たるメンバーのようですね。マイケルとサイモン以外で分かったのはダイアナ・ロス、ライオネル・リッチー、シンディー・ローパー、スティービー・ワンダー、レイ・チャールズ、ウィリー・ネルソンぐらいでしょうか。
ボブ・ディランは有名という理由だけで昔ＬＤを買いました。ＬＤプレーヤーが壊れて久しく印象も違ってて分かりませんでした。

余談ですが、僕は昔からボブ・ディランの何が凄いのかまったく分からずで、ＬＤを買ったものの５回くらいみてもうお腹いっぱいになりました。音程の強弱は無いし、この歌の映像に至っては全く乗り切れておらず（３分４９秒）、挙句にＤＶＤの特典映像ではボブ・ディランがレコーディングに四苦八苦して周りのアーティストの人達に助けれられている様が載せられています。可哀そうなほどですが、でも彼は凄いらしいのです。分かる人には分かるんでしょうね。


マイケル・ジャクソンのコーラスの歌声がとても綺麗なんですけど、他にも惹かれたのが、スティーブ・ペリーという人が歌っている所なんですよ。
動画の２分２９秒辺りなんですけど、あの高いところ（Oh There's a choice we're making We're saving our own lives）を男の人が歌っているのでめちゃくちゃビックリしました。 僕も声が高いほうなので出るかどうかは試してませんが（家で本気で歌ってたら変ですから）、カラオケで試してみようと思います。


この歌を聞いただけ、映像を見ただけでは華やかな部分しか伝わらなかったことが、ＤＶＤを見てよく分かりました。この企画が実現するまでの経緯や、収益金の使われる過程など、そして実際に飢餓で苦しんでいる人達、死んでいく子供たちを見ると、とても可哀そうで直視できませんでした。

この企画に賛同したアーティストの皆さんはとてもいい仕事をしたと思います。



互助会の新年会でこれをやれば良かったなぁと思いました。
